An eye-opening, boots-on-the-ground memoir by the Agent-in-Charge of protecting Ambassador Paul Bremer during his term as administrator of Iraq following the fall of Saddam Hussein

In May 2003 George W. Bush appointed Bremer as Presidential Envoy. Charged with laying the foundation for a new government, Bremer disbanded the Iraqi Army and banned the ruling Ba’ath party. In the process he became the prime target for dozens of insurgent and terrorist groups. Assigned to protect him during his grueling sixteen-hour days were Blackwater security expert Frank Gallagher and a team of former Marines, SEALs, and other defense professionals. Now Gallagher takes the reader deep behind the scenes of one of the world’s most dangerous professions in The Bremer Detail: Protecting the Most Threatened Man in the World (Charlie Foxtrot Books; $14.99; color photo insert; on sale September 30, 2014).
When Gallagher and his team arrived, Baghdad was set to explode. As the insurgency gathered strength, Bremer and the men who guarded him faced death daily. They were not in the military, but Gallagher and his team were on the front lines of the Iraq War. The Bremer Detail is a thrilling memoir that reveals the numerous occasions that Gallagher and his team literally saved lives through their reactions to ever-present danger.
