Russia Lays Claim to First Mobile Phone

While, Car phones in 80's flicks are good for a laugh. The Russia State Corporation, Rostec decided to roll this gem out showing the true "first" mobile phone developed by Leonid Kupriyanovich in 1957 USSR. The radiophone LK-1 is shown on the left in the photo below. Its range was at most 18 miles. He improved on the design and later released the phone shown on the right which only weighed 2.5 ounces.
