Russia Starts Delivery of Arms to Iraq

There has been a lot of back and forth on if Russia would be able to supply Iraq with weapons reported in a $4.2 Billion contract for attack helicopters, anti-aircraft systems and other arms. The state defense manufacturer Rosoboronexport has now reported the start of delivery on the contract including 48 Pantsir S1 Anti-Aircraft Systems along with 40 Mi-35 and Mi-28 Combat Helicopters. The new weaponry is reported to be utilized toward anti-terrorism operations only. This will be the first such deal between Russia and Iraq since the start of the Iraq War in 2003.
