The Army has all but officially announced that Crye Precision has won Phase IV of the Camouflage Improvement Effort. The camouflage has yet to be released publically, but as Soldier Systems has reported in their scoop, the patterns will be environmental variants of their existing MultiCam pattern. Stars and Stripes aloofly broke the story in piece on tattoos and grooming standard changes by touching on SMA Chandler stating the new camouflage would be phased in within 8 to 9 months with the different colors palettes utilizing a pattern similar to MultiCam.
This certainly brings up several interesting questions like, "What took you so long" or "What was that IP Rights solicitation all about if Crye will be Awarded anyway"? Another great quandary in the saga will be how other services will adapt over the ensuing years given the recent Enyeart Amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act requiring all services to adopt the same camouflage uniforms by 2018. Obviously these questions among others will be answered in due time. Congrats to Crye Precision on the news and all of the finalists including Kryptek, ADS/Guy Cramer, and Brookwoods Companies Inc. They all received great publicity from the proceedings.
