John Tippets Idaho State Senator Responds

Below is the response from State Senator Tippets of Idaho District 32. We are seeing in Illinois that the fight is going to be tough at all levels and your Representatives and Senators at the state level will be influential in protecting your 2nd Amendment rights.

Thank you very much for your email.

I do not support gun control laws in general. The U.S. Constitution does guarantee our right to own firearms. There is some truth to the old saying that if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. I am deeply saddened by what happened in Connecticut. My understanding is that the shooter was already violating laws by carrying a handgun because he was only 20 years of age, and the state has a law that you must be 21 years old to carry a handgun. More laws against gun ownership would not have prohibited what happened.

Please be assured that I will defend the right of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.
