Masterpiece Arms has been know to develop some mean Computer Aided Designs when it comes to manufacturing their firearms and their final product often lend themselves to the phrase "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder". Surprisingly enough their latest addition the MPAR 556 Rifle, which they say will be released at SHOT Show 2013, is a departure toward some of the more standard designs for the AR-15 Rifle platform. However, there are definitely some key features that are distinct for the overall weapon system chambered in 5.56mm.

For one, the MPAR is a short stroke piston gas system for better control and cleaner operation. There will be a cap on the front of the handguard to keep internal operation clean. Another key aspect will be a fully machined aluminum side folding buttstock. The aluminum handguard will be manufactured in two pieces and Masterpiece arms ensures that the design will be easy to field strip for access to all parts. The photo is simply the CAD image and the color has no bearing on the final product. They currently have a listed retail price of $959.00 which will be very competitive for the features provided. We will definitely be checking this one out at SHOT Show.
