It was announced today that Toyko based ABC-MART, a top Japanese footwear retailer will be purchasing a majority of LaCrosse Footwear Inc.'s outstanding stock (BOOT) including that of major share holders on the Board of Directors. The major Portland based footwear manufacturer which holds the brands Danner and LaCrosse will become a subsidiary of ABC-MART and remain in their current facilities. It is noted that this move will expand the US made brands to an international market, while currently maintaining US based production.

Danner was first established in 1934 and was purchased by LaCrosse in 1994 at which time the parent company moved their offices to Portland, Oregon. Their well established foothold in the US military and public safety markets will certainly play a factor in keeping the brand manufactured within the United States which employees around 400 workers at their Portland operations.
