With a big lead up Smith & Wesson has finally released the "official" photos of their latest M&P line pistol. A lot of rumors about the Shield™ are correct since they introduced both a .40 S&W and a 9mm and a slim single stack. Each have a width of only .95". It does lack the rail present on the Compact versions in the M&P line as the leaked 9mm photo had shown.

Given the design, it does have a lower capacity, but does offer an extended mag with 6 and 7 rounds for the .40 version or 7 and 8 rounds for the 9mm Shield. The price point is great at $450.00, so they should definitely be competitive in the pocket pistol CCW market with actually retail probably coming in at $350-$400. They also introduced a new promo video to drive home the design. They also have a full range of accessories lined up from big names in the industry for holsters, sights, lasers, and more.
