The U.S. Army released details on their new Apps marketplace which will allow for a central site for downloading the applications put forth for training and additional information. If you have utilized Apple's App store, Droid Market, or the Kindle Store, you know that this is one of the quickest and easiest means of downloading your needed applications allowing for instant access.

The first apps to be available are to cover training aids and tools, but with different developers interfacing with the market, there are plenty of possibilities for all sorts of tools to help get the job done. They note that Apple's iOS operating system will be the initial focus for new releases at the marketplace, but Google's Android OS will soon follow suit.
Tablets, Smartphones, and similar devices are the future for instant access to information and computer based systems in the garrison or combat zone, so it is great to see an wide embrace from the Army sooner than later.
