Women's Army Combat Uniform Getting a Workout

The U.S. Army has reported yesterday that Fort Benning will be the proving ground for the new Female ACU.   The soldiers will be custom fitted for the uniforms and test out all functionality of the new coat and pants, which are designed to a women's form.

It will be some time before the uniform is issued for deployment as the 100+ soldiers will provide additional feedback to determine the effectiveness of the current design, and consider necessary changes to improve the uniform.

We had touched on the FR Female ACU in August of last year as the new features were released, but a lot can change in 7 months. The major focus is on creating a uniform that better fits the contours of a woman. Not only will this better help them function in daily activities, but will also provide a better fit for a cleaner more professional appearance. With the ongoing debate concerning women soldiers possibly being utilized in combat, the creation of a female focused uniform can become ever more necessary.
