Nuclear Missile Combat Crew Patch

For those familiar with patches, you may have seen this one around. It was covered in a great first hand article in the Wired: Danger Room Blog back in January. I read it after it first came out while riding in a car. I had forgotten all about it till I saw this patch again. The writer offered great insight into his duties and day to day activities of being Missileer who manned Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Control rooms.

He had to consistently maintain protocol and perform mundane repetitive test launches on a regular basis. As typical with such a piece, it is some of the more simple inside details of their day to day lives that prove to be most interesting. If you have not read it yet, definitely go and have a gander at: In Nuclear Silos, Death Wears a Snuggie
