U.S. Air Force Announces Airmen to Receive OCP

The official Air Force website posted today that newly deployed Airmen will begin receiving the new MultiCam uniforms in March of this year. Known as Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage, or simply OCP for a good acronym, all Air Force soldiers working outside the wire will be wearing this uniform. It is the long term intention for all ground fighting Airmen in Afghanistan to wear the uniform that mirrors that warn by the U.S. Army.

The new U.S. Air Force OCP uniforms will also feature a bug repellent in the fabric. It was noted that some Airmen working closely with Army forces have been utilizing the MultiCam Uniforms, but this will be the first wide scale issuance of the new armed forces camouflage option. The 2011 SHOT Show featured many manufactures who highlighted much of their new gear and packs in MultiCam camouflage. It is certainly a pattern with mass appeal, however like any military uniform, staying power will lie in its effectiveness in the field.
